Vandas are gorgeous hanging orchids and do not do well potted in an upright position. You will also want to be careful when repotting and watering your orchids. Vanda orchids are ideal hanging basket plants, but they do require lots of sunlight and some humidity.
Light is a crucial factor in blooming most vandaceous plants. They need a lot of light and stand even full sunlight.
Water should be applied copiously when the plants are growing, but the roots must dry quickly. Because of this, and their extensive root system, they are mostly grown in slatted-wood baskets, or in pots with a coarse potting medium. If their situation is warm and sunny, they may need daily watering. Water sparingly in the winter or during cloudy weather.
Humidity of 80 percent is ideal. Mist everyday and during the warm season even twice a day with warm water.
Temperature should be over 15 celcius, but as the orchids come from tropical climate, they like very warm temperatures.
Fertilize during the warm season once a week.
